Build a paper circuit

Make a greeting card that lights up a hands-on way to see how electricity flows in a loop.

  1. Fold a piece of paper in half like a card.
  2. Tape a strip of aluminum foil from one corner toward the middle, and a second strip from another corner, leaving a small gap between them.
  3. Tape a coin-cell battery so it touches one foil strip, and press a small LED's legs onto the two strips.
  4. Close the gap by pressing the foil together the light turns on. Ask: what happens when the loop is broken?
You'll need: paper, aluminum foil, tape, a coin-cell (CR2032) battery, and one LED. All reusable across kids.
