Knights Knowledge Inc. is a community-focused nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to the knowledge, skills, and educational support that help individuals and families build stronger, more financially secure futures.
Founded in Lancaster County by students who saw firsthand how barriers can prevent people from accessing the support they need, Knights Knowledge began with a simple idea: make learning more accessible, personal, and connected to the community.
Today, we are building on that idea through a dual-generation approach designed to serve youth and families in Southeast Lancaster.
Our Mission
Our mission is to equip individuals and families with practical knowledge, educational support, and foundational life skills that can create pathways toward greater opportunity and long-term economic stability.
We believe education extends far beyond the classroom. Academic achievement, financial literacy, confidence, and practical life skills all contribute to a person's ability to make informed decisions and build a stronger future.
Our Approach
Knights Knowledge brings learning directly into the communities we serve. Our model emphasizes:
- Accessible education that reduces barriers to participation.
- Peer and community-based learning that creates comfortable, supportive environments.
- Financial literacy and practical life skills that can be applied in everyday life.
- Youth engagement and leadership that empowers young people to help strengthen their own communities.
- Family-centered support that recognizes lasting economic mobility often requires engaging multiple generations.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we listen to residents, collaborate with community organizations, and design programming around the needs of the people we serve.
How It Started
Knights Knowledge grew from an idea developed by co-founder Hyrije Trinaku, a student at Hempfield High School.
Hyrije initially created a peer-to-peer tutoring initiative after recognizing that some students who needed academic support were reluctant or unable to participate in traditional tutoring because of barriers such as transportation, scheduling, or the stigma sometimes associated with asking for help.
The concept was simple: make tutoring convenient, welcoming, and student-centered.
During its first year, the initiative connected approximately 50 students with academic support and engaged 20 upperclassmen as volunteer tutors across a variety of subjects.
Its success raised a bigger question: could the same principle—bringing accessible, trusted education directly to people—help address challenges beyond the classroom?
For Hyrije, that question was also personal.
Her mother came to the United States as a refugee from Kosovo in the 1990s. Educational and community integration programs provided critical support as she adapted to a new country and built a life in America. Her experience demonstrated the lasting impact that accessible education, guidance, and community support can have on an individual and an entire family.
That legacy helped inspire Knights Knowledge.
Listening to Lancaster
Before expanding the organization, Hyrije began speaking with residents and organizations throughout Lancaster City to better understand the challenges families were experiencing.
Those conversations repeatedly highlighted concerns about household expenses, financial stability, access to opportunity, and the difficulty of getting ahead as the cost of living increases.
Knights Knowledge was created in response to those conversations.
Our initial focus is Southeast Lancaster, where we aim to work alongside residents, schools, nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, and other local partners to expand access to educational resources and practical financial knowledge.
Starting Local. Building Lasting Impact.
We believe meaningful community change starts with relationships.
Knights Knowledge is beginning in Southeast Lancaster with the goal of creating a model that is responsive to the community, measurable in its impact, and sustainable over time.
Our vision extends beyond individual tutoring sessions or workshops. We want participants to gain knowledge they can carry forward—helping young people succeed academically, helping families make more informed financial decisions, and ultimately creating greater opportunity across generations.
Because when knowledge becomes accessible, opportunity becomes more accessible too.
Our Founder's Perspective
“I saw how education and community support changed the trajectory of my own family. Knights Knowledge grew from the belief that we can create that same kind of opportunity for others—not by deciding what a community needs, but by listening, showing up, and making knowledge easier to access.”
