Who we are
Knights Knowledge Inc is a nonprofit organization based in Southeast Lancaster, PA, offering dual-generation programming — financial literacy sessions for parents alongside STEM tutoring for kids. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through knightsknowledge.org (the “Site”) and our mobile app (the “App”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
The Knights Knowledge app
This section covers the Knights Knowledge mobile app (the “App”), which offers financial literacy lessons for parents and STEM tutoring for kids. The rest of this policy covers the Site.
Information the App collects
- Account information you provide: name, username, email address, and password. If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we receive the name and email address they share with us, and never your Apple or Google password.
- For children’s accounts, a parent or guardian’s email address and their consent, collected at sign-up, and a record of whether that parent or guardian has confirmed the account.
- Learning activity: lesson progress, quiz answers, XP, streaks, defeated bosses, unlocked achievements, and avatar customization choices.
- Messages sent to Knighty, our AI coach, and AI-generated learning plans or practice questions created from them.
- Session calendar bookmarks, if you save an in-person or virtual session.
- If you check in to an in-person session: your name, the session, and the date.
- If you join the leaderboard, the nickname you choose (never your real name), and any reports other players make about a nickname. Leaderboards are optional.
- If you submit a bug report: the summary and details you write, an optional reply email, and basic technical information (app version and device type).
How the App uses and shares it
We use it to save and sync your progress across devices, personalize lessons and AI coaching, run features you use directly (like the family leaderboard and session reminders), and fix bugs. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with these providers, who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase, our database and authentication provider, stores account and progress data.
- Apple and Google, if you choose to sign in with them, confirm your identity to us.
- Groq, an AI infrastructure provider, processes the text of messages sent to Knighty in order to generate a response. For a child’s account this only happens after a parent or guardian has confirmed the account; until then Knighty answers from the app’s own lessons. When available, on-device AI (Apple’s Foundation Models) is used instead and never leaves your device.
- Resend, an email delivery provider, sends the confirmation email to a child’s parent or guardian. It receives that email address and the confirmation link.
- Google delivers bug reports to our team by email and stores them, along with session check-ins, in spreadsheets only our staff can open.
- Family members you link with can see your name, username, XP, streak, avatar, and lesson progress. Linking needs a family code and the approval of an adult already in the family; they never see a child’s guardian email or consent details.
- Which achievements each learner has unlocked are counted anonymously, only to show how common each achievement is.
- Knights Knowledge staff and volunteers may access program data to support your family’s participation.
Children and the App
The App is used by children under 13 as part of our STEM tutoring program, and we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Any account for a child requires a parent or guardian’s email and consent before it is created, and we collect only the minimum information needed to run the program. We then email that parent or guardian a one-time link to confirm the account. Until they confirm, the child can use lessons and practice, but cannot appear on a shared leaderboard or use the cloud-based AI coach. Parents and guardians can review the information collected from their child, request that it be deleted, or refuse further collection at any time by emailing knightsknowledgeinc@gmail.com or by using Delete Account in the App’s Profile tab.
Deleting your App account
We keep App account and progress data for as long as the account is active. Using Delete Account in the App’s Profile tab permanently removes your login, profile, and progress from our servers and your device, and frees your email address to be used again. This cannot be undone. Bug reports you have already sent are not tied to your account and may be kept.
Information the Site collects

Financial Literacy Check. Our quiz is completely anonymous. We never ask for your name, email, or any other identifying information, and we don’t store your IP address with your answers. We only save which questions were answered correctly, in aggregate, so we can see which topics families find hardest — never tied to you individually.

Session sign-ups. If you request to join a program session through our calendar, we collect the information you provide (such as your name and contact information) so we can plan for attendance and reach you about the session. We don’t use it for anything beyond coordinating our programming.

Contact by email. If you email us directly, we’ll have your email address and whatever you choose to share with us.

Site usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our Site — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and what device or browser they’re using. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to do this. This data is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally to us.

Local storage. Our Site remembers your language preference (English or Spanish) using your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device — we never see it. If you sign in as a session organizer to manage the calendar, that sign-in is also remembered locally on your device only.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to run and improve our programs, communicate with families about upcoming sessions, understand which financial topics need more attention in our curriculum, and understand how people use our Site so we can make it more useful. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, for any reason.
How we share information
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Site and our programs — currently Google (Google Analytics, and Google Sheets/Apps Script, which powers our calendar sign-ups). These providers only use the information to provide their service to us; they don’t have permission to use it for anything else. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to collect the usage data described above. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, or use a tool like Google’s Analytics Opt-out add-on, without affecting your ability to use the rest of the Site.
Children’s privacy
Our programs serve families, including children, but our Site itself is intended for use by parents and guardians who sign up for sessions on their family’s behalf. We don’t knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the Site. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at knightsknowledgeinc@gmail.com and we will delete it. The App, which children do use, is covered in its own section above.
How long we keep information
We keep anonymous quiz results indefinitely, since they don’t identify anyone and help us track our impact over time. We keep session sign-up information only as long as we need it to plan and run our programs, and delete it after that unless a family asks us to keep it for future sessions.
Your choices
- Ask us what information we have about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing knightsknowledgeinc@gmail.com
- Turn off cookies in your browser to limit analytics tracking
- Clear your browser’s local storage to reset your language preference or organizer sign-in
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure. We can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
